It kills me that so many amazing smiles were covered by masks but thankfully, a few of them got through even if they were covered.
I know masks are important and I wear one, but this moment is such a huge moment, and to have it not just cluttered, but covered by a mask makes me sad.
On the other hand, without this cloth or paper symbol, the smiles could be from any other graduation that I’ve photographed over the years. These graduates could be just another group of kids coming of age and jumping out into the world.
But they aren’t.
These are some of the most resilient graduates that I’ve watched grow up these past years and I’ve seen them shrug off some of the hardest learning conditions. I’ve seen them find ways to stay connected with their friends. And I’ve see them do with with a smile and that makes me happy.
That gives me hope.
